Squirrel Invasion
Sciurus carolinensis is a particularly odious rodent that looks harmless, what with his walk happy, jumping from tree worry-free climbing. Sitting on a fence to nibble away at an acorn, his is the epitome of cuteness hairy.
In our neighborhood south of the city St. Louis, gray squirrels are very populated and completely useless. I find myself with a little love for these gentle beasts if instead of eating acorns chewing gum that litter the sidewalks around our year. "
Those with the sweet gum trees on your property know what I am speaking. Chewing seem like a small fish, globe excited. About the diameter of a golf ball, only he will crush the bones, leaving a small solid ball. Squirrels have mostly stayed off my radar. While they are essentially useless, I have no trouble as his fellow wildlife, the pigeon. Pigeons have in the past recently gained my attention by lethal coating various surfaces with traces of foul. They like to cluster my gutters and make bets on who can land the brunt of poop in my hose on the wall. Tired of picking up my vinyl hose and understand slick dirt, which took up arms against them, covering their body fat, lead shot feathers until they found another house to use as a toilet.
Unfortunately, the Duchy of local squirrel has accelerated my anger. One afternoon I made a frantic call from my wife. "A squirrel is in the house, call Critter Control?" He asks. Gemey described the invasion, told more full of salt oaths in the country in a battle group steamed for the Coral Sea. Most of them left, "and then shortly to &^%$#…" continued the details of a road, path or an inventory of damaged household items. The gray giant had perpetrated a whirlwind of wanton destruction. Despite an emergency, a squirrel is not life threatening, so I did not run home to face the invader. My brother the law came and said that the house free of rodents, the missile probably hairy Gemey escape while frantically calling for help. Wally narrator neighborhood was not so sure, and warned us against sleeping after eating peanut butter. We set a trap in the house, but they caught nothing.
By curiosity I put the trap out of a cracker smeared with peanut butter as bait. The bait disappeared and I tried again with peanuts. I caught a starling. Me set the trap again. The next day was full of fury furry gray (which knows that squirrels growl?).
I asked if this was Gemey squirrel, but failed to make a positive identification. I had to drop kick, but warned that tells its path, were watching him.
