Surgical Instrument Cleaning Brushes Explained
There are different brushes for cleaning almost anything and it’s crucial to use the correct brush. For example, if you use a brush with a diameter that is to large then the brush will not effectively clean.
The manufacturing of cleaning brushes for medical equipment has also come a long way in the past few years. Many brushes are known as wire twisted, whereby two separate strands of wire are tied together to hold the nylon bristles in place. Over the years, this wire was often made of galvanized steel, which easily rusted and strained the life of the brush. These brushes are made both of stainless steel wire and medical grade nylon. Latest technology in the surgical instrument cleaning, increases the overall life of the brush.
When brushing it is important that all brushes exit the distal tip of the surgical equipment being cleaned. To avoid pushing the dirt where you stopped cleaning, It is best to long enough to completely exit. So remember, the brush must always exit completely when cleaning your surgical instruments.
