Discover the Disadvantages of Reverse Osmosis – Don’t Buy Anything Before You Read This
There was a time when people thought that reverse osmosis was the best way to obtain pure drinking water. Many of them even installed these for home and commercial purposes. However, this technique did not last long and fell flat.
This is because there are many disadvantages of reverse osmosis. Though, to a certain extent, reverse osmosis could help in desalination in the commercial sector, it did not prove to help at all for domestic purposes.
This is the reason for drinking water filters to come into existence. In this article, let us take a quick look at the disadvantages of reverse osmosis which brought about its downfall.
Disadvantage #1: Long Filtration Time
This is by far the most important drawback of this water filtration system. This system takes a long time to filter water. It is so slow that it takes about four hours just to filter one gallon of water!
Disadvantage #2: High Cost
In addition to taking a long time to filter a small amount of water, the cost for buying and installing this system is very high too. It costs about $10,000 to purchase and install it! Now isn’t that too high a price to pay for a system that is not very efficient?
Disadvantage #3: Ineffective Filtration
Did you know that this system does not remove the chlorine content in water which is actually very harmful? It does not even retain the important chemicals needed for our body like calcium and potassium.

Reverse osmosis also needs four gallons of water to generate just one gallon of distilled water in four hours. Now, isn’t that an absolute waste or precious water?
Looking at these disadvantages of reverse osmosis, it is time for us to bid goodbye to this system and opt for drinking water filters that incorporate a dual filter system for efficient performance, because these have been proven effective year after year, and they are very inexpensive as well.
