Stainless Steel Jacketing, Metal Jacketing – Protecting Insulation
Jacketing is a term used for covering installed covering insulation. It saves not only energy by efficient insulation but also provides cost saving and has a positive impact on environment. Insul-Mate stainless steel jacketing is used in annealed surfaces and most corrosive surfaces. Insulation Systems are used in primarily in refineries, power plants, chemical facilities and paper mills. Mainly the brand names that are used under this are:
- Pabco and Childers Metals
- Gerrard
Stainless steel jacketing has a melting point of approximately 2500 F, which offers the best fire protection of all metals. Stucco embossed finish on stainless steel reduces glare from sunlight and has a potential of masking application fingerprints and dents.
Moisture Retarder
Insul-Mate stainless steel jacketing is supplied with a moisture retarder that prevents galvanic corrosion which occurs due to contact of dissimilar metals in presence of water vapors and also chemical corrosion is prevented.

This technique is used in insulated pipes, tanks and vessels less than 8 ft. in diameter. It is used in various fields and is widely used in commercial and transportation. Ultrolon®, which is highly corrosion-resistant aluminum roll jacketing; and Muffl-Jac, that acts as sound barrier jacketing used with fibrous and closed-cell insulation materials as a control form of acoustic treatment.

Expansion Springs –
They come in 4″ and 2″ lengths. These springs are made from 300 series stainless steel, and are able to withstand any sort of weather and job site conditions.
