Caloundra- city of beaches
The Sunshine Coast is a gateway to holiday and Caloundra is the perfect place to begin. Caloundra is the “city of beach days”, with six different beaches all in one place. Experience the calm beaches with views of the Glass House Mountains, the sparkling water of the Pumicestone Passage and a breath taking coastal headland with amazing coves and sandy beaches. The six different beaches of Caloundra are the Kings Beach, the Bulcock Beach, the Golden Beach, the Shelly Beach, the Moffat Beach and the Dicky Beach and each beach has its own specialty.
The Caloundra coastal path stretches along some of the most spectacular shorelines. The path connects coastal link from the Golden Beach in the south, around Caloundra Headland then Moffat Headland, before heading north following the long, sandy beaches of Kawana to Point Cartwright. On the way it passes through some historic sites including Military Jetty used for military operations during the Second World War, and the heritage listed Kings Beach Bathing Pavilion constructed in 1937. There are also some marvelous views to enjoy at Moffat beach, Kings Beach, Happy Valley and Bulcock Beach. The walk traverses some coastal vegetation between Currimundi and Dicky Beach. Caloundra is full of versatilities; one can enjoy swimming into clear blue sea, dive into the ocean waves, and paddle into the calm shallows, take sun bath, surf the breaks, fish from the jetty, boat or shore, kayak, jet ski, wind surf and explore this unending adventurous coastline.
Kings Beach is Caloundra’s premier surfing beach and just behind the beach there is modern playground, barbeque facilities and an amphitheater for major events. This region is filled with picturesque view, incredible blues from the skyline as well as off the sandy shores, and with lush greenery scattered between some of the most incredible mountains and waterfalls. Explore along the along coastline by cycle or by walking down the coast or on a cruise, by kayak or hop on a jet ski. There are many things to do in Caloundra, whether take a horse ride, going sky diving or anything else, it all starts if you choose to stay in the centre of action, right in the heart of Caloundra. There is plenty of entertainment venues and cinemas, visits to galleries, wineries, cafés and restaurants along the Blackall Range which let discover the delights of Maleny, Montville and Mapelton. Caloundra’s accommodation offers choice to escape to the hinterland, stay in a luxury couples retreat or a tree house!
