Select the Right Pot Rack to Complete Your Kitchen Remodel
Whether your kitchen remodeling project is big or small, storage space is probably one of your biggest issues. That is why so many homeowners love pot racks. They free up storage space in your cabinets and make your pots and pans visible and accessible. You don’t have to limit the rack’s uses, either. Pot racks can display colanders, spices, dried herbs, and vinegar bottles. Just about anything can go on the right kind of kitchen rack.
Positioning Your Rack: Most homeowners install their pot racks over a kitchen island or peninsula. Depending on your kitchen, it may make more sense for you to position yours over your cooking area, especially if it houses pots and pans, or over the sink for quick clean up. If you hang a lot of items, consider lining the room’s perimeter with a series of racks, or use the pot rack as a decorative window treatment.
Style: Pot racks come in a variety of styles to fit every budget. If you’re remodeling your kitchen, select a rack that coincides with your décor. Do you want a stainless steel rack for a sleek, modern look? Would you prefer something that complements the kitchen’s wood cabinets? Are you going for an old-fashioned or a country look? If you can’t find exactly what you envision, you can always make one. Do It Yourself: A pot rack can be made out of almost anything. An old gate, window sash, or ladder could make a rack that’s full of character. For a more modern look, consider turning a metal shelving unit into a pot rack, or make one out of plumbing pipes. Simple S hooks will allow you to hang pots from just about anything.
Integrate Lighting: A pot rack can combine with a lighting fixture for a truly unique look. Light will reflect off the pots and create a diffuse glow; copper pots create a warmer look, while stainless steel enhances a room’s contemporary appearance. Some racks are even integrated with a chandelier.
