I always have to slide my card twice at Safeway. Why?
I don’t have that problem at any other stores and assume I am doing something wrong. I slide the ATM card, punch in my code and follow the directions. It ALWAYS fails and I have to do it again. I used to slide the Safeway card first and now just lay it on the counter so the checker can see it because she used to always ask me if I had it. Sometimes they don’t ask, they just overcharge for the mdse. without extending the discount.
That was happening to me too, and I think I finally figured it out yesterday. The first time you are supposed to slide your club rewards card. Then the second time you slide your payment card. Check with the employee to see if that’s right. If you don’t have a club rewards card, I think you can hit cancel.
