Keys To Identifying Honeywell Valves
Any HVAC company would tell you that Honeywell valves have a long history of reliability and durability. With several years of experience under their belts, Honeywell endeavors to provide you only with the best solutions for your HVAC system. Foremost among these innovations are the following: zone control, ventilation, gas control valves, temperature controllers, thermostats, Aquastat controller, Honeywell fan coil actuators, boiler and burner controls.
Like any mechanical system that constantly works with pressure and gas, they too can get old and worn down. The most common mistake that people do when they’re trying to replace their gas valves is to list down the furnace number rather than the gas valve number.
Know where to find it
Knowing where you’re going to find the valve number starts with knowing what the valve looks like. In simple terms, the valves look pretty much like a small contraption usually metallic in color with a box like shape. It can be as big as a shoe box and may have holes that accommodate for the piping.
It also has electrical components that are connected to a power line. Always be sure to try to keep this in mind whenever trying to fiddle or replace this item.
There are practically three major brands of valves in the market which are the most common and the most prominent, namely: Honeywell, Robert Shaw Grayson and White Rogers. Identifying Honeywell fan coil actuators are fairly easy because of the prominent engraving on the valve itself.
The difficult part is in identifying the model or the part number.
Numbers
Most of the time, the model or the part number is printed on a white label at the posterior side of the valve. It consists of numbers or letters along with the brand. Some examples of gas valve numbers are VR8304 or the Universal Gas Control Valve, VR8200A or the Standing Pilot Gas Control Valve or the SV9501M Gas Control Valve and Smart Valve.
At this point, it’s important to note the hazards of playing around with combustible gas and the valves that lock them. Always be sure that the machine is not operating and that the power is not on whenever you are moving or taking away parts.
Hard to reach areas which are not visible to you could be accessed by using a mirror. Simply direct the mirror to face the side of the model number so that you’ll be able to list down the details. Better yet, before a technician installs a valve, get it right away and document it so that you can use that as a reference.
Time Saver
Even though you may not be technically proficient about the aspects of your HVAC system, keeping a written log about the details that the technician points out, would be very helpful for you and the technician in the long run. Noting the details and the numbers down could also save some time for both you and the technician as he would not have to spend extra time in identifying the Honeywell valves.
