Very Important Tips For Vendors at Trade Shows and Festivals—Get A NAB Merchant Account First !

Are you planning on being a vendor at a trade show or festival this summer? If you are then there are several things to consider before paying high rental space for a booth.
1. ) Check to see if there are any kind of statistics available about that particular event from the promoting organizer. Like what kind of attendance did they have last year? What other festivals or trade shows are going on at the same time in the area ? What can of entertainment is booked for the event this year ? Even more important, is to make sure that your products matches the anticipated demographic attendance. (i.e. Do not try to sell quilts at a hip hop convention).
2. ) Make sure to select a great spot to set up your booth. Those that are close to the front gates will normally go for the highest price. But they are not always the best. Keep in mind, most people entering the festival want to walk around the grounds, before they decide to buy anything.
Understand, 99.5 % of the people are not even thinking about buying anything other than a hot dog and a soda or beer, in the first place.
Here is a better location to consider and could cost you less. Now no matter how many people are in attendance, chaces are that 85-95 % will visit the restrooms before they leave.Chances are likely they will be back again, too!
Now do not set up right next to the port-a-potties, but being in close proximity to restroom facilities will be a best bet for those buyers with kids or those with a small bladder. Moreover, once they are relieved they are ready to buy something from the closest vendor, trust me !
3. ) Make sure to wear comfortable clothes. Make sure to take a change of clothes. Make sure to take an umbrella or even a light waterproof jacket, even on hot days, because the summer nights can become chilly. Take a chair…Take sun screen and insect repelllant. Take plenty of water. Take a snack, and take at least two others to help man your booth, because handling a large crowd all day long will kill you by yourself.
4. ) As far as what you are selling. Keep the selection limited to less than five items. Any more items will cause people to crowd your booth and just browse, while making the real big buyers behind them leave your booth forever ! Regardless if you are selling t-shirts, clothes, jewelry, food or beverages, keep it simple and keep the crowd moving.
5. ) So, now you are set up behind your booth and are wondering whether to accept credit cards ? This is the number one thing you should have no matter what you are trying to sell. As mentioned earlier in # 2, most people are at trade shows and festival with their friends or family, just to have some quality time together. Only when they walk pass your booth will they decide to purchase your products.
To be sure, none of them are carrying $ 5000.00 in their pocket or pocket book, but almost 70 % of them have a credit card with a $5000.00 limit. Also , if you are not set up to accept credit cards, then you shouldn’t even think aboutbeing a vendor at all. 95 % of what people buy over $ 5 bucks at a festival is bought with plastic.
Vendors not accepting credit cards will suffer a slow death. Moreover, the adjacent vendors from those who only accept cash will experience an unexpected increase in sales, because when that vendor turns a credit card holder down, the humiliated card holder will jump to the next vendor who does, in eye sight of the other one, just to show them that they had just missed a sale. Normally credit card holders will buy two to four times more than cash only customers at any outdoor event !
So, if you think you have a hot product that will sale well at a festival and is priced over five dollars this summer, then the first thing you should do is get a merchant account.
