Best Beretta – Beretta 92 and the 9mm Round
Beretta Handguns are some of the most popular handguns in the world, and for good reason. They are the oldest handgun manufacturer in the world (Started all the way back in 1526), based out of Italy, and have been made famous by the M9 handgun (Model 92 Civilian). Overall, they are a great gun manufacturer, and will continue to be one of the best in the world. But what can be considered the Best Beretta?
Based off the gun’s popularity, size, reliability and ammo or round, we have chosen the Beretta 92 as the Best Beretta. The Px4 Storm was a close second, but was edged out by the Model 92.
Popularity
The Beretta 92 (basically the same gun as the military M9) is definitely one of the most popular handguns in the world. It was designed back in 1972 and a few variations have been produced since then. The M9 version replaced the M1911 .45 ACP as the standard military issue gun for the United States Military back in 1985. It has also been made the standard issue sidearm for the French military, Brazilian Armed Forces, Italian Armed Forces and many more militaries, police forces, and special forces in across the world. Quite a few US police officers absolutely love their Beretta 92, which has made it one of the classic police guns of our time.
In this category the Beretta 92 easily beat the Px4 because of its massive popularity. The Px4 is still decently new, and has yet to take hold like the 92 has across the world.
Size
The size of the Beretta 92 is great; it is perfectly contoured and fits a variety of grips and hands very well. Because of its nice contours, it’s a little more comfortable in smaller hands than a Glock, yet still feels great in bigger hands. The slide is nicely contoured, which helps make the gun not overly bulky.
Ammo or Round
The 9mm round (9x19mm Parabellum) is the main round for the Beretta 92. The 9mm handgun round is probably the most popular handgun round in the world, and can be found in almost any corner of it. The round itself is fairly small, so the capacities of the guns are quite impressive. It also lets the gun frames remain decently small. Although its stopping power is not the highest, it still has fairly decent velocity and energy behind the round. There is a reason it’s the most popular handgun round in the world.
Reliability
One of the hotly debated areas of the Beretta 92 is its reliability. Some people think the gun is absolutely unreliable, yet others have never had a problem. Traditionally, Berettas are a fairly reliable gun, and will do their job consistently. But if you are looking for pure reliability in a handgun, you should probably buy a Glock.
